Tucked away at Southwark’s Old Union arches, Bala Baya won my heart with its new weekend brunch menu. Not only is the food an absolute delight, the price is ridiculously attractive (£8pp). Bala Baya, Chef Eran Tibi’s first solo venture is worth the detour.

BAUHAUS INSPIRED

Arranged over two floors, in a brick-exposed railway arch, Bala Baya brings Bauhaus style to Southwark. A buzzing restaurant and a kick-ass soundtrack, how much better can it get? Designed by the award-winning interior design firm Afroditi Krassa, which also designed the hip Indian restaurant Dishoom, calls the look “desert Bauhaus”. With its exposed bricks, burnt orange, green palm frond and bespoke lighting, the ambiance is vibrant.

BOTTOMLESS BRUNCH MENU

Bringing a taste of sunny Tel Aviv to your London table, Bala Baya new bottomless menu costs only £8 per person which includes an unlimited amount of mezze as well as unlimited grilled lemon thyme pitta…Order and re-order as you please (trust me you will).  After training under Sami Tamimi at Ottolenghi and working with  Josh Katz at Made in Camden, Chef Eran Tibi has created a menu that mimics a day in the life of the “White City”.
